After Matt Shakman was announced as the director of “Fantastic Four”, information indicates that Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer are also connected to the Marvel project, as writers.
The information comes from the magazine Deadlinewhich previously revealed Shakman’s participation as director, which was made official during Disney’s D23 Expo 2022 event. Now the writing duo will also join the project.
In fact, the magazine claims that sources revealed that Kaplan and Springer have been linked to “Fantastic Four” for some time, even before Shakman, known to Marvel for his work on “WandaVision”, was chosen as the movie director.
The duo has been outlining for some time where in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline the story will fit, along with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Deadline also indicates that the Kaplan, Springer and Shakman trilogy will continue to work to align their visions for the project, before the writers begin writing the script.
Kaplan and Springer are new to the Marvel scene, but the duo have been in high demand lately, being linked to several new projects. Among them is Warner Bros. “Disastrous Marriage”.
During the D23 Expo 2022 event, which took place this month, Kevin Feige confirmed that Shakman would be the director, but frustrated audiences by claiming he had nothing more to reveal about “Fantastic Four”. There was a growing expectation that, perhaps, Marvel would announce the film’s quartet of lead actors.
But, with a director and writers tied to the project, which will have Feige as a producer, the next step should be adding names to the cast. The new “Fantastic Four” have been highly anticipated by MCU fans since Disney acquired Fox and took back the rights to the heroes.
Since then, fans have been wondering when the Fantastic Four will return, this time with an MCU debut. Kevin Feige then announced during San Diego Comic-Con 2022 that the group’s film will kick off Phase 6 in the MCU and arrive on November 8, 2024. The film will be followed by two more, both from the Avengers.
