Warning, spoilers. Before continuing reading this article, it is advisable to watch the first five episodes of House of the Dragon.
With House of the Dragon already halfway through, we’ll have to prepare for some upheaval in the continuation of the first season of the Game of Thrones spin-off. From the sixth episode, which is expected to air this Monday, September 26, with USA on OCS, several characters will switch translators due to the ten-year time jump.
This is the case of Rhaenyra, who we leave after her bloody marriage to Laenor Velarion. After 5 episodes, Millie Alcock bids farewell to Princess Targaryen and is replaced by Emma D’Arcy. Illi slips into Renira’s shoes ten years later, and the first teaser released by HBO shows her in a very bad state.
Indeed, Rhaenyra has just given birth to her third child from her marriage to Lenore Velarion (now played by John McMillan). And as soon as she has welcomed this newborn, she moves boldly through the halls of the castle, because“She wants to see him”.

“She” surely refers to Queen Alicent (now played by Olivia Cooke), who wants to see the child that Rhaenyra has borne. So the teaser shows Rhaenyra walking with difficulty but supported by her husband, Laenor, to join the Queen in her quarters. It seems that the enmity between the two former accomplices is still relevant ten years later.
Which makes sense, since their conflict is the red thread of House Dragon, setting up the famous “Dance of Dragons,” a civil war that would mark the beginning of the downfall of the Targaryen dynasty. Recall that the series tells the story of the Targaryen family, about 170 years before the events of Game Of Thrones.
When King Viserys reigns over Westeros, his succession is at stake. Without male offspring, who will take over? With no fewer than 10 adult dragons under their control, the Targaryens have long dominated the realm of the Seven Kingdoms. The only power that can bring them down is House Targaryen itself.
Will there be fatal tensions, betrayals and jealousies that will shake the clan internally?
