This is the funeral of Laen, who chose to perish by his dragon’s fire. The entire Velarion family is understandably distraught. On the Targaryen side, it’s much more mixed. Viserys sets the tone for the situation, his younger children visibly upset. Rhaenyra notes the gravity of the situation. But the demon finds a way to laugh when his late wife’s uncle sings his praises. It is elegant.
It’s clearly not a time to be happy. Everyone looks at each other like faience dogs. Rhaenyra and her sons also mourn the deaths of Harvin Strong and his father Lionel Strong, but cannot show it. And by the time it’s time to assemble, everyone’s already starting to advance their pawns for their own little self-interests.
And Renyra and Daemon are looking into each other’s sweet eyes from a distance, why not. Lenore has suicidal thoughts. Viserys tries to get closer to Damon but fails miserably.
When the evening comes, faces fall. with sadness or tears or both. Together, the Velarions try to soothe their pain, but the discussion quickly turns sour. Rhaenys berates her husband Lord Corliss for his ambition and the fact that he never accepted Rhaenys not ascending the throne.
He is obsessed with his estate and the idea of leaving a mark on history when Rhaenys wants to honor the memory of his late daughter. This is why Rhaenys wants to bequeath Lamark’s domain to Laena Sr. because Velarion blood runs through his veins, unlike Laenor and Rhaenyra’s children, who are actually Harwyn Strong’s children.
On the beach, Renira and the demon walk side by side on the spleen. Renira blames the demon for abandoning her when she was still a child. He replies that she left him precisely because he was only a child. And what was supposed to happen for centuries happened. An uncle and niece, both widowed for less than a week, engage in a heated hand-to-hand battle that has plagued them for years.
Daemon and Renira together. We can’t see anything, but it is done on purpose
Aemond Targaryen, the second son of Alicent and Viserys, uses the night to satisfy his curiosity and passion for dragons. He notices where Vagar – Laena’s dragon – has decided to spend the night and approaches the huge creature, which is still sleeping.
Waking up to face Emond, Wagar almost burns him to ashes, but because he is a Targaryen, he survives. With a few words, the kid manages to tame the dragon and ride the roller coaster, something even Tom Cruise couldn’t do in Top Gun.
Laena’s daughters see their mother’s dragon tearing through the sky and go to warn their cousin Jakeris. Rhaenyra’s two older sons, Jakeris and Luceris, along with Laena’s two older daughters, Baela and Reena, form a welcoming committee after her nightly escape to Emond.
The confrontation quickly turns into a fight, but it has nothing to do with children’s fights. This is His Majesty the Flies Medieval version. The rain is blowing, the blood is flowing. Emond fights like hell, but ends up getting stabbed in the face, costing him his left eye.
Everyone is gathered in the great lobby of Lamarck. Emond’s mutilation is impressive, he has been stitched alive by the Grandmaster and has a scar that disfigures half of his face. Adults are trying to figure it out. Rhaenyra’s sons tell their mother that Emond called them bastards.
This is a perfect opportunity to talk about an open secret, but one worthy of an atomic bomb. Viserys orders an end to these rumours, but Alicent cannot settle for so little. He wants in return the eye of Lukeris, who struck him, he is foaming at the mouth with rage. But Viserys ordered the matter buried and his grandchildren’s reputation preserved. Anyone who continues to spread such rumors will have their tongues cut out!

The case seems closed, but Alicent grabs the famous dagger from Viserys’ waist to hurl himself at the poor kid. Raenira intervenes. Two women facing each other, one covering her angry point with the other. Sir Christon Cole is about to intervene, which is interrupted by the demon.
Alicent and Renyra, once best friends, vent all the hatred and loathing they each feel for each other. Alicent essentially accuses Rhaenyra of failing to fulfill her obligations when she has always been a model of virtue. And with one move, Alicent manages to stab Renira in the arm.
General surprise. But Emond ends the drama with the satisfaction of having lost an eye but gained a dragon.
Alicent is visited in his apartments by the hand of the king, his father Otto Hightower. Alicent is appalled by his behavior and the image he is sending to the court with all the rumors it has already generated.
But instead of giving him a welcome little moral lesson, they go back to the basics of the tip: “We don’t stab people,” Otto congratulates him! Papune is happy to finally see his daughter, the queen, seething with anger. And he goes on with his little plots about Rhaenyra that he has right in front of him. (The dagger of war is buried far away)
In her chamber, Rhaenyra has her arm crudely stitched up, as is common in Westeros. Lenore arrives after the battle to realize that he wasn’t there to protect his wife and sons because he wasn’t there for his sister. Rhaenyra tells him the origin of the drama: their sons, whom Emond called bastards.
Later, Lenore regrets that she failed in her marital duty and blames herself for “created by the gods“, homosexual. Rhaenyra then has the most beautiful reaction, telling him that he is a decent man. Laenor commits to investing more in this marriage, being a better father to the princes and a better husband to the future queen.
On the way back, by boat, the treacherous Lord Larris approaches Alicent and has already plunged his knife into the wound. “Poor distorted Emond, justice underfoot, etc.” And he offers to avenge his son… Alicent refuses, but assures him that one day soon he will need his services. He looks happy.
As they watch the king’s ship sail away, Daemon and Rhaenyra share a moment together. Raenira wastes no time. She proposes marriage to her uncle. Their union would strengthen her position and status as heir against the Hightowers. But as the demon points out that they’re married, Lenore must die… “I know,” she replied absentmindedly.
Neither one nor two, the demon goes to bribe Sir Carl, Lanor’s lover, to kill him in front of witnesses. As a reward, he will have luck and be able to drink pills on the other side of the world.
This was enough for Ser Carl, who goes to Velarion’s castle and challenges Lanore in a duel. If we don’t attend the fight, we’re left with the melted face of Lenore that her parents found in the fireplace.
On this we find Daemon and Renira joining their blood and therefore marrying! But their union is not as macabre as it seems. We witness a midnight boat departure from Sir Carl, but he is quickly joined by a shaved-headed Lenore, off for a new life!
