Whether they’re called Nat Love (the cowboy), Bass Reeves (a gunman who became a marshal, but segregation laws forced him to resign), Mary Fields (and her relationship with Gary Cooper), or even Henry Beebe (the writer), all are forgotten. History books that either barely mentioned them or completely ignored them.
For movie and TV buffs, the film also highlights some lesser-known facts, such as the fact that The Prisoner of the Desert, a Western classic, is actually a gross-out whitewash or that The Lone Ranger is actually inspired by Bass Reeves above. .
