Rings of Power creators Patrick McKay and JD Payne recently gave an interview about the future of their series and the future of Season 2, which is currently filming.
The new episodes will obviously continue the unresolved plot points of Season 1, and there are a lot of them. Among them is the journey of Pivelue Nor and the Stranger to Rune, a country located in the east of Middle-earth, north of Mordor.
“It is a journey of unknown and nori discovery”Patrick McKay comments Deadline. “He is about to discover himself, he learns that he is an Istar, or a witch, and he learns from the mystics that he is other than Sauron, which implies that his fate is somehow intertwined with Sauron’s destiny. But it is true. So he goes on a journey to learn more, and maybe his name is part of that journey.”
This emerges from a visit to the series’ writing room HollywoodReporter That Season 2 will feature new “iconic” Middle-earth locations as well as familiar characters.

Among them is the already announced Kirdan the Carpenter, a bearded elf who wears one of the three “elf rings” seen in the finale and who was already present – discreetly and without a beard – in The Lord of the. Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
The article also reveals that the second season will include an epic battle over two episodes. No further details have been released to keep the element of surprise intact, but even Game of Thrones wouldn’t dare!
Producer Lindsey Webber explains how Sauron could be shown:
Season 2 is fundamentally different as our main antagonist is revealed and will put his plans into motion. (…) It will be darker, more intense and possibly more dangerous.
We had elements that we were saving for the finale that we thought were too big to show now and go with everything. So we kept it for season two.
The nine episodes of this second season will unfortunately not be released on Prime Video until 2024, if all goes well, as the series includes many epic scenes and requires special effects.
Wait, you can watch the series again, paying close attention to Halbrand’s lines, which may already indicate that it was Sauron.
