Vanity Fair has released new footage of the upcoming detective The Pale Blue Eye starring Christian Bale, Lucy Boynton and Harry Melling. We posted the first frame here. The images shown show the main characters of the tape, including also the heroes of Gillian Anderson, Toby Jones and Robert Duvall.

Bale will portray a detective who investigates a series of murders at the US Military Academy in the 1830s. Helps him in this young Edgar Allan Poe (an American writer and poet, born in 1809 and died in 1849, according to one version, due to addiction to alcohol). Harry Melling (Harry Potter, The Queen’s Move) will play the writer.

In parallel with the filming of The All-Seeing Eye, Christian is working on several projects: in the spring he finished filming the blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder, the comedy thriller Amsterdam will be released in October, and the actor’s return to the role of Batman is also being discussed. Read his long interview about professional and personal at this link.

Recall that the literary basis of the script was the novel by Louis Bayard. RThe gothic thriller was directed by Scott Cooper, who previously directed Black Mass and Antlers. The events of the new picture take place in 1830. Detective August Landor investigates a series of mysterious murders at West Point Military Academy. He is assisted by a young academy cadet (and future writer) Edgar Allan Poe.

The movie will have a limited release on December 23rd and will hit Netflix on January 6th.
