The characters (and many more) we met in 2018 are back!
Xavier Fesser, the director of titles such as ‘El Milagro de P. Tinto’, ‘Camino’, ‘Mortadelo y Filemón contra Jimmy el cachondo’, ‘Campeones o ‘Historias Lamentables’, returns as conductor of the wonderful cast of actors with whom he gave life to the film ‘Campeones’, the film released in 2018 that was enormously successful among the public and critics, and of which the second part has just been shot.
Entitled ‘Campeonex’ is the new adventure of the emblematic protagonists of the first installment: there will be back the characters of Sergio Olmos, Jesús Lago, José de Luna, Jesús Vidal, Fran Fuentes, Gloria Ramos, Alberto Nieto, Roberto Chinchilla, Stefan López, to which new stars are added that will give a lot to talk about.
The filming of the new film has taken place over more than 9 weeks in different locations in the Community of Madrid. In the words of its director: “It’s been a real privilege to shoot this film. We’re working with the most gifted people in the universe to make us cry with laughter while moving us with their overwhelming humanity. ‘Campeonex’ is a journey full of new characters, each one more delicious, and situations full of tenderness, humor, sport and lots and lots of action“.
‘Champions’ became the cinematographic event of 2018, grabbing numerous awards including 3 Goya awardsincluding the one for best film as well as the one for Best New Actor to Jesús Vidal and the one for Best Song, awarded to Coque Malla for the song ‘Este es el’.
Fesser signs the script this time with Athenea Mata, the actress who gave life to the character of Sonia in the first installment. The director, throughout his career, already has 7 Goya awards to his credit, obtained for films as diverse as ‘Camino’ or ‘Mortadelo and Filemón against Jimmy the horny’, and nominated for an Oscar from the Hollywood Academy for the short film ‘Binta and the great idea’, in 2007.
Luis Manso, from Películas Pendelton and Alvaro Longoria from Morena Films, are the producers of the film and Rey de Babia AIE joins as producer. It also has the participation of Movistar Plus+ and RTVE; and the sponsorship of Movistar.
For now we do not know when the release date of the second part will be.
