The package shouldn’t introduce important news for the end user, but it fixes bugs and improves the overall usability of the device.

OR Chromecast 1st generation, TV dongle launched in 2013, recently got an update after three years without receiving a single news. The package introduces a number of bug fixes and improvements to the device, according to the update note released by Google🇧🇷

The download takes the original Chromecast from version 1.36.157768 to 1.36.159268. Considering the minimal numbering change, the patch is likely to introduce nothing significant to the end user beyond improvements to the overall experience and fixes for known issues.

In the same round of updates, Google has also revamped the third-generation Chromecast software (launched in 2018). Likewise, the update should not introduce news worthy of note.

Nearly a decade of support

The 2013 Chromecast is no longer officially sold in any market, and considering it’s been on the market for nearly 10 years, it’s surprising that Google still supports the device. The gap between the updates, however, signals that this will be one of the last downloads for the device.

Chromecast updates are downloaded automatically, so users don’t have to do anything to receive the package. It is interesting to keep the device constantly connected for the next few days so that the download takes place without interruption.
