Officials say one person died in the crash.
One person died during a huge fire that engulfed a shopping mall in the northeastern suburbs of Moscow, Russia on Friday (9). Firefighters are still working to put out the flames.
Mega Khimki Shopping Center has about 18,000 square meters of built-up area and has been completely destroyed. According to the Russian news agency Tass, the fire broke out at the OBI hypermarket at 5:58 am (local time) and the firefighters arrived at the scene four minutes later thanks to the prevention system installed inside the premises commercial.
However, the flames spread from the store to other parts of the shopping centre, including part of the roof of the premises (about 5,000 km²) until it collapsed completely.
So far, officials are working on the possibility of a domestic incident, such as an electrical outage, and see no connection to Russia’s role in the war in Ukraine. 🇧🇷
