Nicolas Cage told the ComicBook site that he made several calls to the producer of the cult movie sequel in which he starred in 1997.
Currently starring in Tom Gormiken’s A Talent in Solid Gold, which covers several of the actor’s cult roles, Nicolas Cage has renewed his interest in starring in a sequel to John Woo’s cult film, Volta / Face.
He asked ComicsCommenting on potential sequels to his cult films, the actor said:I can talk about the Volta / face extension because I spent a lot of time on the phone with Neil, with whom I really enjoyed working on the first film. He is one of the best producers in Hollywood.“
Cage thus confirms that the Volta / face extension is still in the works. In March 2021, Adam Wingard, Godzilla v. Kong and director of Death Note, was announced as the director, claiming to have contacted John Travolta and Nicolas Cage, and both were interested in reprinting their roles if the script suited them.
While this is not a firm and decisive yes on the part of the actor, the fact that he spoke to producer Neil Moritz about the film suggests that Nicolas Cage read and appreciated the script, written by Wingard and Simon Barrett. This should be a direct sequel to the story of Sean Archer and Castor Troy. No reset.
Released in 1997, Volt / Face saw John Travolta play the role of an FBI agent who was forced to change faces (and therefore his identity) with his son’s killer (Nicolas Cage) to prevent a terrorist attack; But everything changed when the criminal woke up in a coma in which he was immersed in order to take on the qualities of a hero. The film grossed more than $ 245 million at the international box office.
Nicolas Cage also confirmed that the return of Benjamin Gates will not be to the cinema and stressed that “their priority is the TV series”. Recall, Disney + commissioned a TV series starring a young adventurer (played by Lisette Alexis). Nicole Cage is not scheduled for the casting.
