The general coordinator of the Single Federation of Petroleum Workers (FUP), Deyvid Bacelar, who participated in the transitional cabinet for the government of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, said on Thursday that Senator Jean Paul Prates (PT-RN ) was chosen by Lula to preside over Petrobras and that Senator Alexandre Silveira (PSD-MG) will also lead the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
“Based on the diagnosis, warnings, recommendations and information that the GT (Mining and Energy Transition Working Group) has made available to the president-elect during this complex transition, he defined the name of fellow Senator Jean Paul Prates for the presidency of Petrobras and Senator Alexandre Silveira for the Ministry of Mines and Energy,” Bacelar wrote in an Instagram post.
When contacted, the transition office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the FUP Coordinator General’s statements. Prates’ advisory did not immediately take a position on the news.
