The loss delayed the Philadelphia Eagles’ NFC East title and #1 regular season overall
In a game that could define the NFC East title, the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 40 to 34 at AT&T Stadium, Texas, in a matchup for the 16th round of the NFL. The visitors were without quarterback Jalen Hurts — who has a shoulder injury — and suffered their second loss of the season.
Despite the loss, the Philadelphia Eagles still have a great chance of winning the division and finishing first overall in the regular season as well, just by winning one of the games against the Saints or Giants.
QB Gardner Minshew filled in for Jalen Hurts and 24 of 40 connections – who carried 335 yards, passed for two touchdowns (as well as having one), but had two interceptions in the matchup. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw 27 of 35 passes, threw for three TDs and had one interception.
Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, with two touchdowns, running back Ezekiel Elliott (1 TD), wide receiver Michael Gallup (1 TD), and kicker Brett Maher (4 field goals and 4 extra points) scored for the Dallas Cowboys. For the Eagles, the scorers were DeVonta Smith (2 touchdowns), Gardner Minshew (1 TD) and kicker Jake Elliott (2 field goals and two extra points).
In the penultimate round of Week 17 of the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys take on the Tennessee Titans, next Thursday (12/29). The Philadelphia Eagles will face the New Orleans Saints on January 1 at Lincoln Financial Field.
