Emar Batalha he founded the NGO Alimentando o Bem during the pandemic, while isolated in his beach house, in Guarujá. Since then the project has grown and helped the community of Bairro do Perequê in the coastal city. Find out what actions the NGO is taking this Christmas and plans for 2023.
What actions are you doing for this Christmas?
We organized the Cultural Christmas with a family trip of about 300 people, including children, mothers, fathers and grandparents, to the musical show O Pequeno Príncipe, in São Paulo. It was the most exciting action in our history, as the vast majority of community children were able to enjoy a walk outside their community for the first time and, above all, a trip to the theatre. Books of this history have also been distributed, filled with thoughtful messages.
What are the plans for 2023?
In addition to the incubated work centers, we pilot-tested our entrepreneurship school in 2022. The project starts next year, providing training, mentoring and seed investment activities. Furthermore, 2023 will be a year of greater connection with the wishes and dreams of communities, as the recent conclusion of the socio-economic diagnosis has brought us new data and challenges.
Many collaborations for next year?
In early 2023, our partnership with UNISANTA will begin, a partner university in offering school tutoring to children in the communities. In addition, with the Consulado da Mulher Institute, we will continue the entrepreneurship school by focusing on women entrepreneurs in the locality. We also have a partnership with the Guarujá City Council, among others.

What actions are you doing this Christmas?
This year, the Fundação Amor Horizontal’s solidarity Christmas campaign aims to support families with basic Christmas baskets which, in addition to containing basic foods for monthly consumption, also include typical holiday products so that they can experience the Christmas celebration . The Foundation has acted as a facilitator and connector for companies and social projects in various actions throughout the year, but since Christmas is one of the most important dates for children, we want to combine the realization of everyone’s dream with corporate volunteering.
What are the plans for 2023?
For 2023, the expectation is, mainly, to contemplate all the requests of the social organizations of our network through actions that are already successful cases and to carry forward the implementation of new actions that can benefit even more children throughout Brazil.
Many collaborations for next year?
We have very powerful partners willing to impact Brazilian childhood who have already confirmed some actions in 2023 and we remain open to new partnerships, seeking to provide comprehensive care and support to children in our network through the donation of basic necessities, renovations of spaces within the social projects and recreational tours with an educational focus, among other actions aimed at encouraging a culture of giving within companies and in the lives of their employees.l SOFIA PATSCH
