The team will have to beat the Buffalo Bills away from home in the last game of the regular season
Playing in Gillette Stadium, the New England Patriots defeated the Miami Dolphis 23 to 21 this Sunday afternoon (1/1) and matched their rival’s record in the fight for the last vacant ACF wild card spot. With the result, the Massachusetts team must beat the Buffalo Bills in the final round of the regular season to guarantee a postseason berth.
The Miami Dolphins are without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The player went into NFL concussion protocol following their loss to the Green Bay Packers on Christmas Sunday. This was Tagovailoa’s second time entering concussion protocol.
Substitute Teddy Bridgewater started and threw for 161 yards, with one TD and one interception. The quarterback had to leave the game after a finger injury and Skylar Thompson came in and went 12 of 21 for 104 yards with an interception and a touchdown with just over 1 minute on the clock and that left the score open.
In turn, Patriots quarterback Mac Jones played well and finished the game with 230 yards and two touchdowns thrown to wide receivers Tyquan Thornton and Jakobi Meyers.
Next Sunday (8/1), the New England Patriots will face the Buffalo Bills, away from home, in pursuit of the playoffs. Already the Miami Dolphins, also looking for the vacancy in the postseason, receive the New York Jets.
After seven years, the Giants are back in the postseason
The New York Giants secured a playoff berth after beating the Indianapolis Colts 38 to 10 Sunday afternoon (1/1). Quarterback Daniel Jones, of the New York team, had a great game passing for two touchdowns, catching 19 of 24 passes and rushing for 91 yards. This is the team’s first time returning to the postseason since the 2016 season.
