Based on the novel ‘Danger Zone (Killing Floor)’ and created for the small screen by Nick Santora, ‘Reacher’ follows a retired military man (played by the imposing Alan Ritchson) who travels to the town of Margrave (Georgia, United States) following the tracks of his missing brother. There he ends up being arrested for a murder that he did not commit, which will plunge him into a criminal plot full of secrets and that seems to have almost all the members of the local authorities in his pocket. Luckily for the honest cops in the area, Jack Reacher has experience as an investigator and is not about to leave until everything is solved. ‘Reacher’ is the most successful series on Amazon Prime Video, the only one with which the platform has managed to reach first place in the Top Nielsenwhich measures audiences in streaming and that accounted 1.589 million minutes watched during the first week of the series premiere. Prime Video has also confirmed that, just a few days after the premiere of its first season, it had already become one of the five most successful series in its entire history.

‘Reacher’, season 2: when will it premiere?

Amazon Prime Video renewed ‘Reacher’ on February 7 for a second season, just three days after the premiere of the first. Of course, the success of the production is undoubted, so the renewal was immediate, to the delight of the fans. for now There is no premiere date for season 2 of ‘Reacher’but, given the good reception and early renewal of the series, we would bet that it will return before the summer of 2023. ‘Reacher’, season 2: how will the story continue?

While you can usually speculate where a show’s story will go, in the case of ‘Reacher’ it’s hard. On the one hand, the story that presented us in the first season has been completely closed: Jack Reacher and his allies uncovered the criminal network managed by the most powerful men in the town of Margrave, including the mayor, and managed to bring them to justice both for their financial crimes and for the murders they perpetrated, including that of Reacher’s own brother. The season ends with the protagonist announcing that he is leaving the place alone, the same way he arrived.

As creator Nick Santora explained in TVLine: “Reacher is not a character who travels in a pack or with an entourage: he’s a lone wolf, so we have to stay true to that aspect of his story”. This means that many things will change in the second season. The first is based on the novel ‘Danger Zone’, which is the first of the stories starring Jack Reacher, but that does not mean that its sequel will follow the chronological order of the Lee Child novels.

In fact, Santora has hinted in more than one interview that we shouldn’t expect faithful adaptations of the source material. “It’s hard. There are 26 books, and then there are the short story anthologies. And there’s a lot to think about in our decision making. Do we want it to be similar to season 1, because season 1 has been successful? Do we want to go in a slightly different direction? Lee gives us a lot to choose from.”said the creator of the series (via comic book). “It’s not a problem when you have too much good material to choose from. The problem is when you stare at an empty space and ask yourself, ‘What am I going to write?'” And there will be even more material: the 27th installment of the Jack Reacher saga is titled ‘No Plan B’ and will be published in 2022.

There is only one official confirmation for the second season of ‘Reacher’, and, of course, it is that of its protagonist: Alan Ritchson will play the character again in the new episodes. The actor has offered us a very different version of the character that Tom Cruise also played in the movies ‘Jack Reacher’ (2012) and ‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back’ (2016). Ritchson was excited on Instagram after the renewal of the series and the great audience data:

In season 1, he was joined in the cast by Malcolm Goodwin, Willa Fitzgerald, Kristin Kreuk, Bruce McGill, Chris Webster and Harvey Guillen (from the series ‘What We Do in the Shadows’), among others. Nevertheless, as we pointed out before, none of them is confirmed to continue in the series. “I’ll say this, and I’m not trying to be cautious: You never know if a character might come back,” Santora said in TVLine.

We’re guessing that if any of these characters can fit into a plot outside of Margrave, they’ll get it back. In addition, the love story that is hanging by a thread would also deserve some progress, although we do not know if that will be in the second season. “We could have a great idea and say, ‘You know what? Maybe that character can work in season 2 or season 3,’ and then you bring them back for a while or for an extended visit.”Santora explained.
