Senate PT leader calls on STF to investigate Costa Neto on draft coup

The leader of the PT in the Senate, Fabiano Contarato (ES), asked the minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes to investigate the president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, on the leader’s knowledge of the circulation of the coup reports among the members of the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

“It is evidenced by his own speech, that the representative of the Liberal Party was aware of and received documents that contained coup contents and that he could not dispose of, similar to those that were found in the residence of former minister Anderson Torres, and later have destroyed them, for their own benefit or for others, incurring the crime set forth in article 305 of the criminal code”, reads the document.

Contarato’s request was based on an interview given by Valdemar Globein which the director, asked about the draft of the coup d’état found by the Federal Police in the house of the former Minister of Justice and Public Security Anderson Torres, affirms that he has received “several proposals” and that there were proposals for a coup decree “in la house of every world”

“There were people who put (the paper) in my pocket, saying it was like removing Lula from the government. The lawyers told me how to do it using Article 142, but it was all outlawed. I was careful to tear it up. I since I had no conditions and Bolsonaro didn’t want to do anything outside the law” Valdemar said in the interview.

In the request sent to Moraes, Contarato also requests that the Federal Police urgently assume Valdemar’s deposition and that the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) be summoned to rule on the opening of the investigation.

The leader of the PT in the Senate argues that Valdemar may have committed the crime set forth in article 305 of the penal code, which states: “to destroy, suppress or conceal, for one’s own benefit or for others, or for the detriment of others, a real public or private document , which he could not afford”.
