American actor and director George Clooney will direct the series “The Department” (original title – “The Department”). The show is conceived as a remake of the French political thriller The Bureau, which aired on Canal+ from 2015 to 2020. According to Deadline, a new version of the cult project will be shown by Showtime and produced by Smokehouse Pictures, MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.

Clooney will not only direct the series, but also its executive producer along with Grant Heslov. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2023. “Department” will tell about agents of special services. According to the plot, they have been living undercover for many years, identifying and recruiting people who can become sources of secret data.

Showtime CEO Chris McCarthy said The Department, like the Homeland series, will immerse viewers “into a world of intrigue and subterfuge with complex characters battling their own demons while battling existential threats to the nation and the world.” . The project will be led by Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, David Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Alex Berger, Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton.

Last year, 61-year-old George Clooney and 55-year-old Julia Roberts starred in the new rom-com Ticket to Heaven. As part of the film’s promo, they spoke to the tabloid POPSUGAR and talked about their friendship, jokes on the set, first fees and hidden talents.
