Disney Plus announced Tuesday night (7) that it will release the first episode of ‘The Mandalorian’ to air on cable TV. “Chapter 1: The Mandalorian” airs February 24 on ABC, Freeform and FX at 5pm PDT.
The news comes just weeks before the series’ third season premiere, tied to the events of Star Wars, scheduled for March 1 on the Disney+ platform.
According to the information of the EngadgetThis isn’t, however, the first time Disney has brought a Disney+ exclusive to TV. The company had previously aired two episodes of “Andor” on ABC, Freeform and FX as a way to find an audience for these productions and, of course, get subscribers.
Also considering that the company recently lost $1.5 billion on its streaming services, due to higher production and technology costs, as well as higher marketing expenses, bringing “The Mandalorian” to TV makes sense, as follows the company strategies.
