Singer Rihanna returns to the stage this Sunday, 12, to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. The American Football League (NFL) decider hosts iconic performances by music stars every year, and for 2023 the choice was doubly special.
Rihanna has stopped her live performances and hasn’t performed for the public in 7 years. The last album was released in 2016, and since then the singer has not released a new full-length work. Her hiatus in her music career has already become a joke among her fans, who believe that the singer has forgotten the musical side of her and has only stuck to feats in the Fenty and Savage brands.
Now, the Super Bowl becomes the stage not only for a performance that will continue a legacy of historic performances, such as Beyoncé with Destiny’s Child, but will mark the return of one of the greatest pop artists of our time. In addition to pleasing fans, Rihanna has received critical acclaim having won 9 Grammys, 5 BET Awards, 8 Billboard Music Awards and 1 BRITs Awards.
The return also brings the anticipation of the beginning of a new era for the artist, who has already promised the release of the new album very soon. On what to expect from Sunday’s performance, she detailed at a press conference. “Representation for immigrants, for people of color, for people who see possibilities. I’m really looking forward to seeing Barbados front and center,” she said.
