Interpreter of Detonator and other characters, comedian Bruno Sutter still chose the one he believes to be the best of his characters
Formed in 1999, the group Hermes and Renato presented a very own style of making humor. In addition to the low-budget production, the skits shown on MTV Brazil between 2000 and 2009 — with a brief return in 2013 — brought surreal and very direct satire, sometimes even using profanity and some stereotypes.
But would it be possible to have a program like Hermes and Renato on television today? In an interview with the website Igor Mirandacomedian and musician Bruno Sutterwho was part of the group until 2012, revealed that he believed that something like that would be “difficult” nowadays.
We live in such a polarized time and the more society understands its rights and evolves, the more difficult it is for the comedian to satirize things that are no longer satirical.”

“Nowadays, I decided to go more towards the musical side with humor than being a comedian who makes music. I show this a lot on my radio show. It’s a light, humorous program that doesn’t hit anyone, you know? I think my legacy as a comedian is already well-consolidated within what I did with the Hermes and Renato. The idea today is to reap the fruits of this: with the concerts of massacrethe part of Hermes and Renatomy radio show, the records I make and with Detonator (lead singer of massacre), which is more aimed at children.”
sutter points out that the connection of the character who commands the massacre with the kids it has been stronger and stronger.
“What I’m doing is encouraging the renewal of rock by children. Every Tuesday I have a radio program where children ask for music. It is very valuable to do and it pays off. One of the last shows of the massacre it was packed with whole families. Parents with children on their laps and the children singing the songs! It’s a good piece of humor to do these days.”

“Each character is a child, but there are some for whom I have a special affection, like Father Quemedo. She even became a meme now, right? resurrected the Father Quemedo because of Father Ken, kevin, kelvin… the priest candidate there.
