Whites, Millennials and Suburbans: Research Maps Taylor Swift’s Loyal Audience

At the moment, she is the 25th best-selling artist in the history of the country, going beyond 50 million copies in the local market alone – and all this at 33 years old and less than two decades into her career.
A study carried out by morning consultation (via Rolling Stone USA) devoted itself to understanding, from science, what the relationship between Americans and Swift. The survey, which heard 2,204 people between March 3 and 5, pointed out that 53% of adults residing in the country declare themselves to be fans of the singer. Of this number, 16% identify themselves as “avid” admirers.
And what is the profile of these people? In general, they are considered white (74%) and millennials (45%) – those born between 1981 and 1995 -, in addition to residing in the suburbs (53%), regions farther from the central areas of large cities.
In addition, the data indicate that 73% of the fans most dedicated to Swift attributed their admiration to the singer for her music – it is surprising that the number is not higher. Approximately 50% focused their attention on the singer due to her live performances and music videos. Interestingly, 42% mention that they became a loyal audience due to the artist being “reliable”.
