Actress Kristen Stewart (“Crimes of the Future”) has directed “The Film,” a compilation of three music videos by indie band boygenius, formed by Lucy Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker. The three singles, which are part of the album “The Record”, released this Friday (31/3), form a sort of short film.
The video begins with “$20”, a clip showing the band taking a blood oath with their younger selves. Then comes the song “Emily I’m Sorry”, the video of which accompanies Phoebe Bridgers in the middle of a truck rally. Finally, the music video for “True Blue”, features Bridgers, Dacus and Baker painting a house and snuggling at the end.
This isn’t the first time Stewart has ventured into directing. He has previously directed the clips “Take Me Down to the South” (2014), by Sage + the Saint, and “Down Side of Me” (2017), by Chvrches. Furthermore, he has also signed the short film “Come Swim” (2017) and an episode of the series “Made at Home”.
Stewart is currently preparing to direct his first feature film, “The Chronology of Water,” an adaptation of writer Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir starring Imogen Poots (“Outer Range”).
