Drake lied to cancel the Lollapalooza show

The rapper claimed that he doesn’t have a team to perform in São Paulo

The controversial cancellation of Drake’s performance at Sao Paulo’s Lollapalooza festival last week continues to pay off. According to the newspaper Folha de São Paulothe rapper lied when he said he didn’t have the crew to run the show.

On social media, the festival shared Drake’s official statement: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Drake is without members of his sound and production team to perform the Lollapalooza show in São Paulo. Unfortunately, this is out of its control. I’m sorry.”

However, according to the São Paulo newspaper, the rapper’s employees were in São Paulo and even spent the night setting up the stage and testing the audio and LED equipment at the Interlagos racetrack. They were surprised and only learned of the cancellation by the company organizing the festival.

Hours before formalizing the cancellation, Drake was spotted at a ballad in Miami, USA. Before the controversy in Brazil, the rapper was criticized for hosting only 45 minutes on the Argentine and Chilean editions of Lollapalooza.

Columnist Leo Dias, from metropolis, said the singer has not yet disclosed the million dollar fee for the presentation in Brazil. The amount of US $ 4 million (approximately R $ 20.7 million at the current exchange rate) was paid in cash upon signing the contract.
