Rita Lee’s children mourn her death on social media: ‘Devastated’

João and Beto Lee have posted tributes to the artist who died after battling lung cancer, aged 75

After an uphill battle with lung cancer, Rita Lee died Monday night, aged 8, at the age of 75. After the announcement of her departure, the singer’s sons, João and Beto Lee, mourned the death of her mother on social networks.

In the post of Rita Lee’s father and partner, Roberto de Carvalho, João said he was “devastated”. “I’m unfounded. Devastated. Devastated. Heartbroken. I love you forever,” wrote the music producer. Already on his profile, the singer’s youngest son posted a video of him and his mother in his childhood.

He called Rita a woman “so ahead of her time”, “brilliant, talented, funny” and loved and admired by so many people. In his moving text, João also affirmed that his mother is his heroine, that it was an honor to be his son.

“We’ve always talked about how terribly important it is to choose your heroes well. They shape our lives, our behavior and who we are. We have to think and choose very carefully. If you want to get an idea of who a person is or will be, ask him who his heroes are. It is very likely that, at some point in his life, this person looks like your hero / heroine. It is inevitable. And you are, and always have been, my hero. Yes, you are brilliant, talented, funny, smart, beautiful, successful, accomplished and have done so many things in your life. But that’s not why you’re my hero. You are my hero in the way you carry yourself, day after day, month after month, year after year, with such dignity and honesty.”

“What an honor and privilege to be your son. What an honor and privilege to have been educated by you. Receive your values. I’ve never met a person like you. Your strength, your courage, your sense of justice, your genius, your sensitivity, your good humor and many other wonderful things. I can say that I have chosen my heroes well. You and my father are my heroes.

“The world has lost one of the most unique and extraordinary people to ever exist. I lost my mother. But you are eternal. Your legacy, your story and your art will live on forever. This is my lifelong mission. As long as I am alive and full of grace, you will continue to make many people happy ”, he concluded, saying he was devastated by his mother’s departure.

Beto, Rita’s eldest son, was succinct in his tribute to the singer. With a photo of her younger, he wrote: “I will always love you. A big part of me died today.”
