Rita Lee was sued by PMs in ‘last career show’; remember

Singer got involved in confusion during show in Aracaju, in January 2012

The judge Alexandre Linsof 7th Special Civil Courtacquitted Rita Lee of the lawsuit against her filed by 35 military police from Aracaju, after the confusion in what had been announced as the last show of her career, held on January 28, 2012, at the festival Sergipe summerin Barra dos Coqueiros, in Greater Aracaju.

The request for compensation by the 35 police officers was rejected, according to the judge, because the officers, as public agents, should be prepared to go through situations like this. Even if Rita has disrespected an authority, she was not specific, speaking of a certain server, but of the group. Therefore, the allegation of personal injury is not justified. Each asked for R$ 24,000 in compensation.

In this ocasion, Rita was arrested after, from the stage, referring to the local police using the words “horse” and “dog”. She allegedly saw the officers assaulting people in the public. “Because of a ‘little joint’? Is that it? Where’s the ‘little joint’ for me to smoke here now? They’re not coming to get me! Come here, cats, kittens! Oh, go away, no, no,” he said. On the same morning, Rita was taken to the local police station to provide clarification.

The singer gave up following the idea that that would be her last show and returned to the stage with a tour to celebrate the 50th anniversary of her career. She even made a presentation on São Paulo’s birthday (read the review of Rolling Stone Brazil here).
