Rockin’1000 plays new version of ‘My Hero’ in tribute to Taylor Hawkins

Project by Italian musicians honored the drummer in a performance in France

The project Rockin’1000formed by 1000 Italian musicians, paid an emotional tribute to Taylor Hawkins, late drummer of Foo Fighters. The band performed the tribute on May 14 at the Stade de France in Paris.

the band played “My Hero”song of Foo Fighters released in 1997 and which has often been presented as a way of remembering the drummer.

At the beginning of the song, the founder of Rockin’1000, Fabio Zaffagnini, said that night’s concert was a tribute to the drummer, which means a lot to the project. In 2015, Zaffagnini commanded the action of bringing together a thousand musicians in Cesena, Italy, so that they could play simultaneously “Learn to Fly”by Foo Fighters, with the intention of putting the city on the band’s next tour.

After immediate success, Zaffagnini received a direct request from Dave Grohl and the band members to get the group together again and play some of the greatest classics in rock history.

In addition to the tribute, the new version Rockin’1000 in “My Hero” presents the binaural recording technique, a three-dimensional method of sound capture, made especially for listening with headphones, reproducing the acoustic perceptions of a listener as faithfully as possible.

The performance video had over 32 million views. Check out the tribute below:
