The 22-year-old British singer brought her pain and indie pop with a smile to the C6 Fest stage
In its debut in Brazil, arlo parks did not hide the joy of playing in the country. “Finally,” she was able to say after receiving numerous messages suggesting: “Come to Brazil [venha para o Brasil]”. My Soft Machineon the 26th of May.
On the night of this Friday, the 19th, Parks walked onstage in his T-shirt bob dylan and tried, from the beginning, to get closer to the small audience that accompanied her in the also debut C6 Fest. With her hands up, she proposed an oath about having fun and dancing during the short fan meeting. Gradually, as the band warmed up and found the ideal dynamic, the singer involved the audience.
Before “Black Dog,” Parks reinforced the lyrics’ message about dark places of the mind and dedicated the song to everyone who has faced and overcome difficulties. The intimacy and melancholy of her verses gave way to a celebration, both from those who identified with the tracks, and from the performer herself, who distributed smiles between one song and another.
A timid chorus of voices accompanied her a few moments later, in “too good.” The track also marked the band’s greatest moment, which brought more energy and weight compared to the original recording. The fills and pauses on drums and bass sounded confident, unlike what happened in most of the set.
In yet another reflection on his compositions, this time before “hope,” Parks recalled that she wrote the song when she was alone. The singer stated, however: “In Brazil, I am surrounded by wonderful people supporting me. I am not alone.”
