Grimes released artificial intelligence generator of his vocals to encourage fans
The singer Grimeswell known for its universe ‘cyber’launched the artificial intelligence platform Elf.Tech., which generates your vocals to be used in songs. On the last 17th, dj kitoreleased a track with the voice of Grimes totally recreated by Elf.Tech. hit that went viral in no time.
The music ‘ColdTouch’is the result of artificial intelligence with the vocals of Grimes AI and production of dj kitowho told NME the details of how this process was until launch. “A few weeks ago I had a studio session in London with two writers I love — Nina Nesbit and Fred Ball — and I just saw Grimes post your invitation for people to use your AI-generated voice. It seemed like a really interesting thing to try, so I pitched the idea when I got to the studio.”
“Elf.Tech it’s such a simple concept: you load a voice and transform it to sound like Grimes […] I think there’s a lot of confusion about how AI is being used in music right now, and AI will continue to be confusing for a while. It’s new territory for everyone.” He completed by saying that the music is not created by AI, but by humans, the tool was only used to remake the vocals and sound like those of Grimes, ‘ColdTouch’ was written, produced and assembled by humans.
The DJ also commented on how the creative process for this song was different and faster than he usually works, as if he had shared a project that was still raw and unfinished, but which had a very immediate response from the public and the result was surprising.
