Before the show at the Turá festival, the singer spoke to ‘Estadão’ about a gradual return to artistic life amid intestinal cancer treatments
Behind the scenes of the second day of Feast of Turathis Sunday 25, in San Paolo, the singer Black Gil she celebrated being able to sing one more song on the show We, the peoplewhich joins Gil family.
Preta’s return, being treated for intestinal cancer discovered at the beginning of the year, was gradual. It started last week, June 16, in Rio de Janeiro.
“I was released by doctors to do the few, also because of the emotion and vulnerabilities I still have,” says the singer, who is currently undergoing radiation treatment.
“God writes straight with crooked lines. Returning to the stage is part of my healing process. I am receiving, as well as in radiotherapy and chemotherapy, this healing dose. It is a medical prescription: returning to the stage, being with the family,” he says . .
In We, the peoplePreta, in addition to having a solo moment in which he sings Sinais de Fogo and Vá se Benzer, is part of the voice, a role he shares with his niece Flor Gil, sister-in-law Mariá Pinkusfeld and sister Nara Gil.
Previously 24 songs, now only 8
Last year, when Gil toured Europe, Preta stayed on stage for the 24-song script. He currently ranks in the top six-like Let me know, total income AND Seraphim – and the last two.
Until next week, he intends to be able to participate in all numbers for the two concerts of the tour that will take place in Salvador, Bahia.

Preta says that the great aggregator is his father, Gilberto, who will be 81 on Monday the 26th.
“Everything revolves around him. He is a force of love, through art, through music. Why are we going to wait until he’s no longer here to do something like this? That’s why this show is very special, amazing. And who watches it ?this show understands this grandeur,” says Preta.
Preta Gil, 49, announced that she had been diagnosed with bowel cancer in January 2023. In these six months, on some occasions, she has shared with the public the phases of her treatment, which included radio and chemotherapy sessions. “My treatment is very harsh. I have no reason to hide something from the public or do something like that on the Internet,” she says.
From Rio to SP
In this process, she, who is from Rio de Janeiro, moved to São Paulo to continue the treatment.
In March of this year, Preta suffered a scare when she went into septic shock from a bacterium that entered her body, probably through a catheter, according to the doctors accompanying her.
The singer had pulmonary sequelae and had to undergo rehabilitation. After recovering, and with the permission of the doctors, she was able to participate in the tour led by her father.
