Liam Payne, ex-One Direction, recalls going to rehab: ‘Put your head in place’

In a video published on YouTube, Liam Payne also recalled controversial comments made about One Direction and Zayn

Former member of One Direction, Liam Payne recalled a recent trip to rehab and the comments about the boy band that generated controversy, in which he recalled how a member of the band threw him “into a wall” during an argument, in addition to having “many reasons why I don’t like Zayn [Malik].”

These comments took place in July 2022 while participating in the podcast impaulsivepresented by Logan Paul. Now, in a video published on YouTube (via NME) last Saturday, 8, Payne explained the disappearance after the controversy.

“I needed to take some time for myself, actually, because I’ve kind of become someone that I don’t really recognize anymore, and I’m sure you don’t either,” he said. “I think for me a lot of what I said came from the wrong place. I was just so angry at what was going on around me.”

Instead of looking inward, I decided to look outward at everyone else. I just took it out on everyone else, which is wrong, really, and my own frustrations with my own career and where I’ve come — I shot everyone else and that was wrong, so I just want to apologize for that in the first instance.

Then, the singer commented on how the criticism of the One Direction were out of “self-protection,” but the other former members “really stood by me when I needed them the most, they kind of came to the rescue.”

“Until Zayn too, which is why I sent him a little thank you online,” continued Liam Payne. “He seemed really hard-headed, didn’t he? Looking back, every podcast appearance was a huge loss.”

In fact, it’s probably one of those life-changing moments that in a way saved my life.

Right away, Payne explained how, after the publication of the impaulsive, he spent time “out” to get “improvement.” “The whole thing got to a point where it was just a struggle to stay relevant.”

So the artist went to rehab in Louisiana to “get his head together.” Finally, he celebrated sobriety, given that he hasn’t had alcohol in about six months: “I’m excited about [isso]. It’s good to be in this position. I don’t need these things anymore. Party’s over.”
