Since the launch of the project last Saturday, the 2nd, the trio has received hundreds of emails with information. Two of them have potential. “We didn’t expect to necessarily get thousands of hot leads instantly… What I’m anticipating is that people who know something are likely to reflect on what they know and speak up at some point,” said the investigative journalist.
Still, the team takes into account the possibility of the bass being in the possession of someone who “doesn’t know what he has”. Scott took up the example of the guitar used by John Lennon in the composition of “I Want To Hold Your Hand”: “That guitar was stolen from a Christmas concert by the Beatles in 1963, but it turned up 51 years later in America and someone innocently bought it for $175.”
the bass of Paul McCartney disappeared in January 1969, when the Beatles were in London recording the “Get Back/Let It Be” session. The instrument was the first purchased by McCartneyacquired in 1961, in Hamburg (Germany), for 30 pounds.
