ACNXX Tour has toured Brazil with packed performances and even featured a special performance alongside Nova Orquestra at The Town
Pitty dedicated the year 2023 to celebrating the 20th anniversary of his most famous album, Brave New Chip. The tour ACNXX has been touring Brazil and featured a presentation with New Orchestra at the festival The Town, in Sao Paulo.
But those who missed the opportunity to attend the performances on this tour, which normally feature the 2003 album being played in full, may not have another chance next year. The singer made it clear in an interview with Felipe Grutter for Rolling Stone Brazilthat the rotation actually ends this year — the final date in its scheduleDecember 16th, is reserved for Campo Grande (MS).
“The initial idea was to do about ten shows, in capitals and such. But things got bigger, several requests came in, and now we have more than fifty dates. If you want, you can continue next year, but I already want to try to do something else, because then it won’t be 20 years, but 21. That’s bullshit.”
Still during the chat, Pitty reflected on the audience’s emotion when watching his current show. The full performance of an album that sold more than 350 thousand copies in Brazil proved to be a great idea, in the end.
“The shows are packed, people are very emotional. I came up with the concept for this show of playing the entire album in its entirety, an artistic and conceptual proposal that I wanted to make. And it’s been great to have this experience of listening to the entire album and then, of course, I go through other parts of the repertoire, but there’s a whole scenography thought out.”
Finally, the artist said that she has really enjoyed the experience. Especially because the album’s material has been somewhat fresh.
“I’m really enjoying the experience. It’s been current, I don’t feel like it was back then, it’s all new, these songs are totally new to me.”
Reinterpretation of Brave New Chip
But it’s important to make it clear that 2023 is not over yet. There are a few months left to celebrate Brave New Chip, both with shows and other initiatives.
An off-stage example is in the project that will be released in October: an album where artists from MPB They re-record the original songs, each one giving it their own look. Only three guests have been revealed so far: Sandy (in “Temporal”), Emicida (with “Teto de Vidro”) and Ney Matogrosso (performing “Máscara”). As the days go by, other names must be confirmed, in addition to the exact date on which the work can be heard.
The tour ACNXX will also yield recorded material. A performance in a square in the Rio Vermelho neighborhood, in Salvador, will be recorded to produce a DVD in the future.
