Review: The Weeknd puts on an urban and dystopian show, with the look of SP, and imposes himself in a gigantic production

After a show held under a thunderstorm in Rio, Canadian The Weeknd took to the stage at Allianz Parque, in Sao Paulo, this Tuesday 10th, for a sold-out show with 48 thousand people. A stage, even, made especially for the Tour after hours until dawn which practically crossed the entire stadium and included a strategic game of special effects.

The idol

There was a long gap between ticket sales for the Tour after hours until dawn and The Weeknd’s arrival in Brazil. The presentations were announced in December 2022 and, since then, the artist has taken a break to dedicate himself to his second passion: cinema.

The singer’s foray into the field of drama, however, caused a series of controversies. He starred in the production The idolfrom HBO Max, which received a wave of criticism for the hypersexualization of the protagonist and was canceled after the first season.

Throughout the show, Abel separated his “persona” from the series’ controversial character’s music and limited mention to The idol THE Populara partnership he struck with Madonna for production.

Despite the stumbles in his film career, Abel knows very well where he is moving and where he wants to go, at least in the already familiar territory of music. The singer is still in Brazil for an extra performance at Allianz Parque this Wednesday 11th.
