This Wednesday, 11th, the Google pays homage to Angenor de Oliveira, the Toppers, the date on which the musician would have turned 115 years old. Considered one of the “masters of samba“, the artist was born on October 11, 1908 in Rio de Janeiro.
The website created an animation featuring the song I need to find myself, one of those that marked Cartola’s career. Angenor began composing samba and playing in bars in Rio at the age of 17. With Carlo Mangueira and other musicians, he helped found one of the city’s first samba schools, Estação Primeira de Mangueira.
Cartola took a break from his musical career, but met his wife, Zica, which encouraged him to dedicate himself to the world of art. In 1974 he released his first LP and, at the age of 70, held his first solo exhibition.
