The sales promoter is seeking compensation of R$150,000 in the Rio courts
The singer Anitta was sued by Poliana da Silva Ribeiro, a 28-year-old commercial promoter, for accusations of abuse of image, moral and material damage. Poliana requests compensation of R$150,000. The information was released by The globe and confirmed by Estadao.
The reason for the controversy is a video Anita posted on her Instagram in 2022, showing Poliana and five of her friends dancing funk. This video was originally recorded in 2012, when the young women, then teenagers, were part of the group “Cia Fissura”. They expressed surprise to see the video reappear on the singer’s platform.
The statement is this Anita used the video without proper authorization, with the intent to “draw attention to the choreography performed by the young women and profit from the release of their album”. Poliana underlines this, before being removed from the profile Anitathe video had already accumulated more than 6 million views.
Poliana, author of the choreography entitled “Lannah”, expressed interest in a conciliation hearing. The case is ongoing at the 7th Civil Court of Barra da Tijuca. Report reached out to the singer, but as of this article’s publication there was no response. The space remains open.
