In addition to the presentation of the trophies, the ceremony featured musical numbers and a performance by Tata Werneck, Tadeu Schmidt and Ludmilla
Singer Iza was the big winner of the 2023 Multishow Award, winning three of the main categories of the award held in Rio de Janeiro, broadcast live on Globo, Globoplay and Multishow on Tuesday evening (11/7). She won Artist of the Year, Cover (from the album “Afrohits”) and Pop Music with “Fé nas Maluca”, a partnership with MC Carol – categories voted by a so-called specialized jury.
In the popular vote, Ludmilla stood out, obtaining two victories as Voice of the Year (the Artist of the Year version according to the public) and as Entertainment (“Numanice”).
Singer Xande de Pilares also scored two wins, for Album of the Year, “Xande canta Caetano”, and in the Pagoda category with “Very Romântico”. Planet Hemp and Criolo won the award for best rock (“Dystopia”), Dennis DJ and Kevin O Chris won the Funk award (“Tá OK”), Elza Soares was awarded posthumously as MPB (“No Tempo da Intolerância” ), Leo Santana with Axé / Pagodão (“Zona de Perigo”), Simone Mendes in Sertanejo (“Erro Gostoso”), João Gomes in Forró/Piseiro (“Pequena Flor”), Nadson O Ferinha and again João Gomes in Brega/ Arrocha (“Sinal”) and the unusual duo Kleber Lucas and Caetano Veloso in the Christian category (“God Takes Care of Me”).
In addition to the presentation of the trophies, the ceremony was characterized by numerous musical pieces and performances by Tata Werneck, Tadeu Schmidt and Ludmilla. The singer, among other things, asked for a minute of silence to sing the national anthem, in response to those who thought she didn’t know the words, due to a technical problem during her performance at the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix , last Sunday (5/11).
The party featured a marathon of performers on stage, following dozens of people, compressed into light presentations that looked like medleys. The exception was Luiza Sonsa, who presented a modified version of the lyrics of “Chico” and the new “La Muerte”, sung in Spanish – perhaps as compensation for leaving the evening without results.
The selection of live shows featured many collaborations, some unusual such as DJ Pedro Sampaio with the band NX Zero, Joelma, Samuel Rosa and Tati Quebra-Barraco, others expected such as Xande de Pilares and Caetano Veloso and the reunion between Belo and Soweto. Highlights of the evening also included Iza, Jão and Melly joining Lulu Santos to sing “Assim Caminha a Humanidade” and a tribute by Liniker, Pitty and Gloria Groove to Erasmo Carlos, Rita Lee and Gal Costa.
