Rapper, producer and businessman Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was once known as P. Diddy and Puff Daddy, has been accused of rape and abuse by his ex-girlfriend, singer Casandra Ventura, who performs under the stage name Cassie.
The New York Times gained access to the trial and exposed Cassie’s allegations against Diddy, in which she claims she was “subjected to a pattern of control and abuse over the course of about a decade.”
The lawsuit, pending in federal court in Manhattan, alleges that the abuse began shortly after Cassie met Diddy in 2005, when she was 19. The R&B singer claims that Diddy “began to impose a pattern of control and abuse that included forcing him to use drugs, assault and rape, including filming in the presence of prostitutes.” Diddy is said to be a fan of voyeurism and masturbates several times while he watches the boys have sex with Cassie, as well as filming the affairs. According to the newspaper’s investigation, he even forced her to watch the videos later.
Cassie and Diddy ended their relationship in 2019 and she claims the reason was that Diddy broke into the house where she lived to rape her.
“Professional” aggression.
As well as being a girlfriend, Cassie was also an employee of Diddy – in 2006, she signed with Diddy’s Bad Boy production company to release his debut album – and the abuse allegedly also involved her controlling her career.
One of the attacks reportedly occurred in 2009, when Diddy saw Cassie talking to another talent agent, pushing her into a car and kicking her in the face multiple times. Afterwards, Cassie was reportedly forced to stay in a hotel room for a week to recover from her injuries. According to her accusation, she asked to go to her parents’ house, but Diddy forbade her.
car explosion
In the trial, Diddy is classified as an “extremely violent” person, who assaulted her multiple times and who allegedly forced her to consume “large quantities of drugs”, including ecstasy and ketamine.
In one of the most controversial passages, he is accused of blowing up rapper Kid Cudi’s car out of jealousy towards Cassie. The vehicle was located in front of the artist’s garage door, which confirmed the explosion. “All of this is true,” Kid Cudi said in a statement sent to the New York Times.
The lawsuit also accuses Diddy of paying $50,000 to a hotel for security camera footage that caught him chasing the singer and throwing glass vases at her.
Cassie also accuses people who worked with the rapper of helping him commit the abuse, some even threatening her. The charge against Diddy includes conspiracy.
Since 2020, Cassie has been married to personal trainer Alex Fine, with whom she has two children.
Diddy denies everything
Through his lawyer, Diddy has denied all allegations.
“Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations. For the past six months, Combs has been the subject of Ventura’s persistent demand for $30 million (approximately R$146 million at current exchange rates), under the threat of write a book about their relationship, this has been unequivocally dismissed as blackmail. Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ms. Ventura has now resorted to legal action filled with baseless and outrageous lies aimed at tarnishing Mr. Combs’ reputation “said Ben Brafman, Diddy’s lawyer.
Douglas Wigdor, Cassie’s attorney, said the events happened in reverse. “Mr. Combs offered Ms. Ventura an eight-figure sum to silence her and prevent this lawsuit from being filed, but she rejected the offer.”
Currently 54 years old, Diddy is the founder of Bad Boy Records and one of hip hop’s most influential rappers.
