The film, now in theaters, takes place 64 years before the initial Hunger Games trilogy.
The latest release in the saga Hunger Games, called “The Song of Birds and Serpents”explores the story of Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), who later becomes president of Panem. The production takes place 64 years before the saga of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and is already being shown in Brazilian cinemas.
The plot is focused on Snow’s rise to power, which ends up leaving Lucy Gray’s fate open in the plot. At the end of the film, Lucy Gray and Snow meet in the hut of the rebel group The Gang, discussing the weapons used in the murder of Mayfair Lipp during a secret meeting of the rebels.
Despite the suggestion to get rid of the weapons to preserve Snow’s reputation, he chooses to remain by Lucy Gray’s side. When she leaves to harvest Katniss, Snow follows her but cannot find her. The suspense increases when a flock of robins imitate Lucy Gray’s voice, making Snow nervous, but the young girl mysteriously disappears.
Both in the film and in the original book by Suzanne Collins, Lucy Gray’s whereabouts remain unknown. Fans speculate about her possible death, considering her detachment from the districts of Panem, mentioning that, despite being in District 12, she does not feel like she belongs there.
In the first film “Hunger Games”Lucy Gray is mentioned as winning the Games, alongside Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson). However, in the second chapter of the franchise, “On fire”she does not participate in the Quaternary Massacre draw, the 75th edition of the competition involving former winners.
The film left many “loose ends” that would open up more films and spinoffs but so far there is no information about continuity. Furthermore, there are a total of 75 editions of the games, and Collins he only wrote about three of them. Although the director of the saga revealed that he would like the participation of Lady Gaga in the next production of Hunger Games.
