Legendary prince of darkness was the first artist to receive the award
Ozzy Osbourne won the icon award in the first Rolling Stone UK Awards in colaboration with Remy Martin. The legendary Prince of Darkness joined an eclectic list of winners in the first edition of the awards, which included The Last Dinner Party, Daniel Kaluuya, Jessie Ware It is The Chemical Brothers.
In a video message, Ozzy explained why he could not be present at the delivery ceremony and informed that his wife, Sharon Osbourne, would receive the prize. The event took place this Thursday (23), at the Roundhouse in London.
My success is just a dream come true. I would like to thank the Rolling Stone UK and to all readers for this wonderful award. This award means everything to me. I am so sad. I never thought I’d be a living icon, I never thought I’d do it for more than a few years, but about 50 years later, I’m getting an award from Rolling Stone UK!
It wouldn’t mean anything if it weren’t for the fans. The fans mean absolutely everything to me because without the fans I have no job, you know what I mean? They are so loyal, they have been loyal to me for many, many years.”
Accepting the award on behalf of her husband, Sharon Osbourne said: “Thank you for constantly supporting him. Ozzy It’s the essence of rock and roll. He’s wild, he’s fabulous, he’s talented. He’s like a fucking animal on the loose and I adore him.”
