Taylor Swift announced this Monday (27) that her tour film “Eras Tour” will be released on streaming on her birthday, December 13. As expected by fans, it will include songs from the tour that were not featured in the theatrical release of the film.
“I’m having a birthday coming up and was thinking of a fun way to celebrate the year we’ve had together by making the Ages Tour movie available for you to watch at home!,” she wrote on her social media. “I am very happy to announce that the extended version of the film, which includes ‘Wildest Dreams,’ ‘The Archer’ and ‘Long Live,’ will be available for rental on demand in the United States, Canada and other countries to be announced soon, at the address from… you guessed it, December 13th.”
The announcement came the morning after Swift performed the final date of her 2023 tour on Sunday (26) night in Brazil. Fans expected an announcement at the show – they also sang the title “Reputation” at shows in Brazil, but no news about a new album was revealed at the show. Any disappointment in that regard may be eased for Taylor fans with the news that they will be able to watch the “Eras Tour” uninterrupted at home over the holidays, on streaming services like Apple TV, Vudu, Prime Video, Xfinity, Google Play and YouTube . .
The omission of several songs from the tour setlist was a source of consternation for some completionist fans when the film premiered in October, even though many correctly predicted that the 2-hour, 45-minute film would be expanded when it was released. became available for home viewing. Even with the addition of “Wildest Dreams,” “The Archer” and “Long Live,” it still won’t include all of the songs Swift performed on most dates on the tour. The song “Cardigan,” performed nightly, is the only apparent absence; Also absent will be “No Body No Crime,” which was not part of the full tour but was performed by Swift with Haim at August shows filmed at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
The film grossed $178 million (R$873 million) in the United States as of the end of last weekend, setting a record for a concert film.
