The singer and composer Caetano Veloso received a great tribute UBC Awards 2023which contained several names of the MPB and personalities from the artistic world this Tuesday (6) at Rio de Janeiro.
The event, which occurred in Home of UBChas been honored with names such as Gilberto Gil, Jaques Morelenbaum, Ritchie, Paula Lima, Criolo, Ferrugem, Jão, Giulia, João Gomes, Tim Bernardes, Zeeba, Pretinho da Serrinha and Luisa Sonza.
“This moment is special because I receive this tribute from my composer friends. I’m happy that my colleagues say such nice things. I didn’t know, as a boy, that (singing and composing) would work. It’s nice to have entered the world of popular music, one of the strongest things about Brazil”thanked Caetano Velosospeaking at the event.
OR UBC Award they also featured performances by Rust in the classic You are beautiful AND I do not regret For Luisa Sonza.
“It is not easy to reduce Caetano’s works to 12 songs. It is an absolutely unachievable task. It gave me several sleepless nights thinking about how we could be original with his work”, reveals Marcelo Castello Brancoexecutive director of UBC. “We wanted to go out of the obvious and call people from the new generation, so that they had the opportunity, for the first time, to sing for Caetano. We also tried to have a Brazilian atmosphere, with various genres. In this sense the award-winning It helps a lot, because we know he has no prejudices. Our main motivation, honestly, has always been to try to make Caetano happy with an honest show”, concluded.
