Matanza Ritual’s Jimmy London defends Jews but opposes Netanyahu’s government: ‘He’s a monster’

Vocalist of Matanza Ritual and co-founder of Matanza, Jimmy London defended the Jewish people and condemned the war between Israel and Palestine in an interview with Rolling Stone Brasil

Jimmy Londonvocalist of Matanza Ritual, has shared his position on the war between Israel and Palestine with those who follow him on Twitter. “I don’t have a very exotic position”, said the actor in an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil. “I think it’s the majority.”

The Jewish singer abhors Hamas’ attacks against Israel, but added that this does not mean he agrees with the Hamas government. Benjamin Netanyahu: “I deeply criticize the government of Netanyahu and some previous Israeli governments, with their conduct especially in the West Bank and, obviously, in Gaza. This is very serious,” he said.

I deeply disagree with a government that has weapons. Including what he [Benjamin Netanyahu] is doing inside Israel. He is ending the Supreme of Israel. He’s a monster. On countless layers, he is corrupt. He allied himself with the worst in Israel to get back into power, because he had been removed from the prime minister’s chair. He allied himself with the most racist, disgusting and disgusting people in order to return. He accepted everything that was worst about these people so he could return to power and end the Supreme Court of Israel to get rid of his corruption accusations. He is rot and whoever walks with him is rot.

London he also defended that “the Jewish people have every right to have a land and to have self-determination in relation to it” — an opinion associated with Zionism. “I think they made a really crazy combination of Zionism and the government of Netanyahuand that, for me, is a big mistake,” he said.

I think that what happened, which was done by Hamas, is a bizarre, unacceptable act of pure, explicit terrorism. It really scares me that people are at some point normalizing or forgetting that there are civilian hostages.

“Everyone has the right to their land mark. The MST fights for everyone to have the right to a land mark”, he argued. “Here in Brazil, for example, people fight in favor of the MST and for the land mark. I agree with the indigenous people: there is no specific moment in which they had to be present on that land for it to effectively belong to them. But with Israel kind of has that, right? There’s a time frame.”

Bill 490/2007, which is being processed by the STF (Supreme Federal Court) and the Chamber of Deputies, establishes that indigenous people only have the right to the lands they already occupied on October 5, 1988, when the most recent Federal Constitution was promulgated.

Defended by ruralists, the PL was vetoed by the president Lula. In a session this Thursday, 7th, Apib (Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil) plans to present action to prevent the president’s vetoes from being overturned by Congress, declaring the parliamentarians’ decision unconstitutional.

Jimmy sees a parallel between the oppression experienced by indigenous people and anti-Semitism and made reference to the Jewish diaspora: “A very serious background to this whole story is the following: people forget that anti-Semitism has always existed. Since the Jews were enslaved in Egypt , after they went through the inquisition, what they went through during all the persecutions in Europe and the rest of the world, then what happened during the Holocaust and what continues to happen in countless other places… Jews have suffered persecution since their existence “.

He also cited the United Kingdom’s actions on the territory now occupied by Jews and spoke out against a possible time frame for the Israelis: “Jerusalem has been there for a few thousand years. It wasn’t made with desert dust, it was made by people who lived in that place before.”

Although other wars are raging around the planet, for the co-founder of Matanza“people have a completely different rule of thumb for treating Israel than they treat the rest of the world.”

What country in the world was more oppressed than a country that fought against six, seven, countries at the same time, and managed to survive?

“They make judgments about Jews and they make judgments about Israel that they wouldn’t make about any other country. ‘Oh no, but I’m not anti-Semitic, I’m anti-Zionist.’ What other country in the world do you wish didn’t exist? At some point have you disagreed with the Bashar al-Assad, which killed and continues to kill hundreds of thousands of people? Do you think Syria should not exist?” he asked. London.
