The businessman Mitch Winehousefather of the singer Amy Winehouse, filed a lawsuit against two of her daughter’s friends claiming they had profited from selling the singer’s personal items at auctions. According to the British newspaper Daily emailMitch is asking Naomi Parry and Catriona Gourlay for compensation of 730 thousand pounds (R$ 4.5 million), as well as explanations about the provenance of the items auctioned.
The auctions took place in 2021 and this year in 2023. The artist’s father wants to know how the items came into the possession of his friends, as they were donated with 30% of the profits to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
Amy died in 2011, aged 27. The release of the film Back to blacka biopic about the singer, is scheduled for April 12, 2024, with no release date scheduled in Brazil yet.
