Latin pop singer Gloria Trevi accused her former producer, Sergio Andrade, of sexual assault, sexual harassment and psychological abuse on Thursday (12/28). The information was revealed by Variety.

The lawsuit arose after the artist was accused of exploiting underage girls in the early 1990s for the businessman’s benefit. The accusations against Trevi date back to January this year and the Latin singer claims that she was also a victim of Andrade.

The Mexican star’s accusation claims that, “unbeknownst to the public”, she was “controlled, mentally and physically tortured and effectively enslaved by Andrade”, in addition to being the entrepreneur’s “most valuable asset” and ” of the woman he was determined to control and subjugate.”

In a statement, Trevi explained that he preferred to remain silent about the “terrible abuse” he allegedly suffered for years. The artist intends to avoid reliving “strange experiences” and “above all to protect children and family”.

“I chose to take this legal action to fight for justice and send the message that such terrible acts should not be tolerated,” he said. “No one should have to go through what I did, and I am determined to make those responsible pay for their actions.”

Andrade is treated as a powerful person, whose brother was a senator, with ties to the business community and Mexico’s political elite. The document claims that he was able to lure girls with his influence with the promise of boosting their careers in showbiz.

“But once these girls and women entered his sphere of celebrity dreams, he would subjugate them for complete control and sadistic abuse – mentally, financially, physically and sexually,” the document says, adding that Trevi and other victims could not speak openly. with other men, nor rebel against abuse.

Furthermore, Gloria Trevi reported that she had no control over her money, which came from her shows and record sales. Gloria Trevi and Sergio Andrade have been accused of child abuse since the 1990s. The duo fled together with backing vocalist María Raquenel Portillo to Brazil in 1998, and were considered fugitives from Mexican justice until 2000, when they were found in Rio de Janeiro.

The Latin singer was jailed for four years, but was released in 2004, without losing her successful career in music. Andrade was convicted of her crimes, but has yet to legally respond to the charges against him in Los Angeles, US.
