Jermaine, former member of the Jackson 5 and older brother of the pop star, committed the attack in mid-1988
Jermaine Jackson, brother of singer and songwriter Michael Jackson (1958-2009), is being sued for an alleged sexual assault that occurred in mid-1988. According to Page Six, the lawsuit was filed on Wednesday (27) by a woman called Rita Butler Barrett, in Los Angeles (USA).
In the complaint, Rita describes herself as “a survivor of sexual abuse, sexual assault, harassment and rape at the hands” of the former member of the group Jackson 5. The victim is also suing the company Jermaine L. Jackson Music Productions, Inc. and Working Papers, Inc.
The victim states in the indictment that she met Jermaine when he worked as a contractor for musicians at his company. In the document, Rita also claims that the two had “close personal/family ties,” which included Motown Records founder Berry Gordy.
According to Rita, the artist showed up unannounced at her residence in Los Angeles and “forcibly” entered the place, where he sexually assaulted her “with force and violence.” The woman says that she even “prayed to God for help”, since she “feared for her life”.

In addition to psychological abuse, Rita says she suffered “physical pain, emotional anguish, fear, anxiety, humiliation [e] embarrassment,” as well as “damages (economic and non-economic),” “permanent disability,” and that his injuries are “substantial, continuous, and permanent.”
