The drummer Rui Mottaknown for being part of the band The mutants in the post-tropicalist phase he died at the age of 72. The information was confirmed by the artist’s official Instagram profile this Thursday 18th. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Born in NiterĂ³i, Rui actively participated in national rock movements in the 60s. In addition to Mutantes, he had already played with names such as Ney Matogrosso, Ze Ramalho AND Erasmo Carlos. The musician was part of the band between 1973 and 1978.
According to his official website, the drummer had recorded four solo albums: Parallel worlds, Rui Motta, Synesthesia AND Mortiz’s illusion. He also excelled in the study and teaching of the drums. Rui has published seven books on the instrument and has coordinated the Rui Motta Drum Workshop, in Rio de Janeiro, since 2006.
The wake will be held this Thursday in Chapel 7 of the SĂ£o JoĂ£o Batista Cemetery, in Botafogo, at 10.00 am. Burial takes place at 1.30pm.
