Katy Perry announced as Rock in Rio attraction

Katy Perry was announced Tuesday night (2/6) as one of Rock in Rio’s international attractions and will headline Palco Mundo on September 20, 2024.

The last time Katy Perry came to Brazil was in 2018 with the “Witness” album tour, which touched the cities of Sao Paulo, Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro.

The artist will perform her show on the same day as Gloria Gaynor, winner of two Grammy Awards and owner of the hit “I Will Survive,” an LGBTQ+ and disco-era anthem, will perform on the Sunset Stage. The festival will also feature Ivete Sangalo, Angelique Kidjo and Iza on the same day, on the Mundo, Global Village and Sunset stages respectively. They will perform at “Dia Delas”, a date when the event features a 100% female line-up on all stages – as happened in 2022, when Dua Lipa closed the evening.

This year, Rock in Rio celebrates its 40-year history with a new Mundo stage, a larger Sunset stage, as well as a new area called Global Village and other new features.

The festival also features performances by Ed Sheeran, Ne-Yo, Joss Stone, Imagine Dragons, Lulu Santos, Ludmilla, Paralamas do Sucesso, Jão, Gloria Groove and Luísa Sonza.

Rock in Rio is scheduled for two weekends, September 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22, 2024, in Cidade do Rock, Rio de Janeiro.
