O Simple Plan spoke out last Sunday, 10th, about the death of a young man that occurred during the I Wanna Be Tour. João Vinícius Ferreira was electrocuted at the festival in Rio de Janeiro after pulling into an energized food truck while it was wet from the rain. Read the band’s statement:
This morning, we were informed about the tragedy that happened last night, at the I Wanna Be Tour festival in Rio de Janeiro, in the food truck and social area.
We are totally devastated. Our heart is broken by this news and we want to express our deep sorrow and solidarity with the family and friends of João Vinícius Ferreira.
We have a very special connection with our fans in Brazil and knowing that something like this happened is terrible.

The death was confirmed by the event organizers in an interview with Splash: “Riocentro deeply regrets what happened and informs that the young man was immediately rescued by the rescue team hired by the event organizer and responsible for the infrastructure, who took him to the hospital.”
“The convention center administration is closely monitoring the case with the organization, so that the family receives all necessary assistance,” they said. 30e also commented on the death in an official statement:
