A renowned futurist made a prediction on the podcast Joe Rogan that artificial intelligence (AI) will catch up to human intelligence by 2029, but billionaire and tech mogul Elon Musk claims this will happen next year.
Famed inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil made what he called a “conservative” estimate about when AI will reach human intelligence during his appearance on the popular podcast.
“We’re not there yet, but we’ll be there, and by 2029 she’ll be on the same level as anyone else.”he said. “People think it will happen next year or the year after that.”
Musk responded on X, stating that the timeline would be much shorter.
“AI will probably be smarter than anyone next year”Musk posted on X. “By 2029, AI will likely be smarter than all humans combined.”
AI will probably be smarter than any single human next year. By 2029, AI is probably smarter than all humans combined. https://t.co/RO3g2OCk9x

NEW GOOGLE GUY RAY KURZWEIL’S INSANE PREDICTIONS
Inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil. Kurzweil explained that he made this prediction at the beginning of the 21st century.
“Actually, I said that in 1999”said Kurzweil. “I said we would match anyone by 2029, that is, 30 years. People thought it was totally crazy. In fact, Stanford had a conference that invited several hundred people from around the world to talk about my prediction, and people thought it would happen, but not until 2029. They thought it would take 100 years.”
Rogan asked Kurzweil if this disparity in opinion is due to people having difficulty understanding the concept of exponential growth, to which the futurist explained that he was “exactly right.”
“In fact, economists still have a linear view”said Kurzweil. “If you say, well, it’s going to grow exponentially, but yes, maybe 2% a year. In fact, it doubles in 14 years.”
Kurzweil, who was also engineering director at Googleis known for his bold predictions.
For example, in his book “The Singularity Is Near,” Kurzweil predicts that humans will soon “transcend biology” and roam the universe as immortal cyborgs. He also believes he will live forever after transferring his consciousness into a computer.
