Research carried out on 120 young people demonstrated the effectiveness of the product in weight loss and in controlling sugar and cholesterol
One published study last Tuesday (12) in the journal BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health it was shown that consuming a spoonful of apple cider vinegar can help in the weight loss process.
The research was conducted by academics from Espírito Santo University in Kaslik, Lebanon; according to them, apple cider has an effect on the control of metabolic parameters.
The analysis was carried out on 120 young people with an average age of 17 years and a BMI (body mass index) between 27 and 34, a rate which corresponds to overweight and obesity. The volunteers were divided into four groups.
Each group consisted of 30 people and received daily doses of 5 ml, 10 ml or 15 ml (the equivalent of a tablespoon) of apple cider vinegar mixed in 250 ml of water for 12 weeks.
The volunteers who drank apple cider vinegar – and not those who took a placebo – lost, on average, between 6 and 9 kilos. The higher the dose of the ingredient, the better the results.
The average weight of the group that took 15 ml of vinegar went from 77 to 70 kg. In the 10th the weight went from 79 to 72 kg. No from 5.79 to 74 kg. Those who took the placebo also showed weight loss, but at a much slower rate.
Additionally, blood tests showed that the patients also had improved sugar and cholesterol levels.

“These findings suggest that apple cider vinegar may have potential benefits in improving metabolic parameters related to obesity and metabolic disorders in obese individuals,” said lead study author Rony Abou-Khalil.
Research indicates that the ingredient can be used to treat obesity; Experts, however, warn that reaching a conclusion will require a larger number of participants – and a longer duration of the experiment.
